Gambling has been around for centuries, from black jack to poker, through to the roulette wheel and one-armed bandit. It is nothing new in many parts of the world, but the history of gambling is much less documented in East Africa, but now it is familiar past time for many. Sports betting used to be something you paid for in cash at a shop and now a bet can be placed using a smartphone and money in an e-wallet. Technology has brought sports betting more to our attention.

This webinar explores the relationship of sports betting with digital credit, looking at how these have prevailed, the common consumer and amounts bet and borrowed. It also explores the role of regulation and education, and why its impact on financial inclusion and exclusion.
