The Unlocking Opportunities with the FIRST+II Inclusive Finance Scholarship Programme webinar was an insightful and engaging session tailored to members of the Ghana Federation of Disabilities (GFD) who are eager to explore career opportunities in Ghana’s financial services sector. Held on 14 February 2025 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM GMT, the session provided an in-depth understanding of Inclusive Finance and its potential for empowering individuals seeking careers in the fintech industry.
Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the FIRST+II Inclusive Finance Scholarship Programme, offered in partnership with CapitalPlus Exchange (CapPlus) and the MasterCard Foundation, which aims to equip young Ghanaian women with the skills for innovative product development, digital financial inclusion, and agent network strengthening. Through the provision of tailor-made digital finance training courses this programme empowers the next generation of Ghanaian women to excel in fintech, financial services, agriculture value chains, and inclusive finance sectors.
The speakers Tariro Nyimo (Head of Stakeholder Engagement and Fundraising at Digital Frontiers) and Eunice Ankomah (FIRST+II Programme Coordinator at Digital Frontiers Institute) elaborated on the scholarship’s objectives, the courses available, eligibility criteria and the application process. Participants were taken through a detailed walkthrough of how to apply, ensuring they were equipped with all the necessary information to take advantage of this unique opportunity.
Attendees engaged actively with the speakers, posing questions and seeking clarifications on various aspects of the programme. The interactive nature of the session ensured that participants left with a clear understanding of how the scholarship could support their aspirations in fintech and digital finance.
