Forum-Forward: A Look At The Certified Digital Finance Practitioner Forum

The CDFP Practitioner Forum was born out a desire to improve the way we deliver the Practical component of the CDFP programme. We wanted to offer you, our students, a more structured environment to tackle the Practical, one which was less daunting and anxiety-provoking.

Now that we have wrapped up our fourth run of the Forum, I think it is safe to say it is going very well! We are gaining traction and seeing an increase in participation.

The course-like structure asks students to commit themselves for a full six-weeks, to complete each of the weekly activities, gradually working toward the presentation sessions in week five (for those interested presenting) and the final submission in week six. We recognise this is a tall order for some given the short timeframe, but the effort is worth it as your certification awaits you at the end of the Forum.

Dickson Poloji, a recent Forum participant and now Graduate expressed his gratitude for “availing [this] opportunity, for us to put into practice all that we have learnt in various courses. We can now see the fruits of our hard work and perseverance.”

Learning by doing

The last four Forums have generated notable learnings for us, we have observed through student interactions and feedback that students hugely appreciate the opportunity to connect with one another and hear from their Forum-mates, particularly in the webinar sessions where students present on topics related to their CDFP journey. This is one of my favourite elements of the Forum as we get to witness a showcase of knowledge and expertise while enabling a platform for students to engage with and learn from one another.

We are interested in exploring how we can increase the touch points between students. Another of our recent Forum participants, Syed Burhan Mehdi said he “thoroughly enjoyed the Research paper and literature review peer feedback.”

In the future iterations of the Forum, we would like to offer more opportunities for students to connect with one another, to share knowledge beyond the webinar sessions and the peer review process. We have visions of making the Forum more interactive, more collaborative. As the Forum is in its infancy there is potential for it to grow, for us to explore ways to offer more value. Isn’t that exciting?

What next?

We encourage all of you who are close to finishing to complete your last few courses soon so you can join us for one of the remaining cohorts this year, taking place in July and October.

Keep an eye out for the email invitation to the Practitioner Forum! We would really like to see you enrol for, partake in, and pass the Forum. We want to hear your feedback – to make valuable adjustments and for that we need engaged participants, your participation matters, you will help us shape our future (Practitioner) Forums.
