Hosted by DFI, SIA and FinEquity this webinar will explore the role of Digital Financial Literacy (DFL) in addressing the gender gap in women’s access and use of digital financial services; the key enablers that support digital financial literacy; and the principles of good DFL program design.
Digital Financial Services (DFS) are widely considered to offer real opportunity in improving women’s financial inclusion and economic empowerment. However, it is not as simple as just adding mobile phones or designing new products. Digital Financial Literacy – the ability to comfortably use DFS, is one of the barriers affecting access and use of DFS.
We will explore the challenges around DFL, the range of competencies involved and how social norms, culture and context need to be considered in the design and implementation. FinEquity will share key findings from their synthesis developed from a 3-week e-discussion from thought, ideas and experiences of their community members. SIA will share their experiences and learnings from the “Hey Sister! Show me The Mobile Money!” DFL program delivered in Ghana.
As well as highlighting key issues and considerations, we want share lessons learned, the different facets to consider in DFL and what the path forward looks like.
