Introducing Alfred Ikemon Biaou, CDFP Student

Introducing you all to Alfred Ikemon Biaou, who is a professional in the banking industry and specialises in electronic banking products and services. He has over 10 years’ experience in the field at UBA Bank and currently at Coris Bank International where he leads the e-banking & remittances unit.

He’s always been passionate about solving problems and enjoys bringing in a new solution or meeting the needs of his customers. Customer satisfaction motivates him, and he is rewarded by contributing to something that meets customer needs. He also enjoys managing all the process of moving funds from one place to another using devices; agents; platforms and providing all the required security.

Alfred is on DFI’s CDFP journey and has completed an impressive 8 courses and is close to receiving his certification. He really enjoys the ways the courses are designed with videos and articles and appreciates how up-to-date and relevant the content is. He feels the knowledge gained is helping him interact with peers and colleagues with more confidence, and the courses have opened his mind. He’s proud of the achievements he has made deploying e-banking services and money transfer products at UBA Bank and Coris Bank International.

I know Alfred is passionate about DFI courses as he came to my attention in our Digital Identity discussion group, where he was recommending his favourite courses to the members of the group! With that kind of dedication we knew Alfred would have an interesting story to tell.

Alfred is also an active member of the Community of Practice (COP) in Benin and found it very beneficial to discuss with peers the learning and to help motivate to continue with more courses and learning. The COP in Benin expanded their role this year to formalise and create the DFI Association of Benin. Alfred was one of the co-founders of the association and was elected to the role of Vice President. The main objectives of the Benin DFI Association are:

  • The promotion of financial inclusion in Benin and in the WAEMU region
  • Contribute to financial education and capacity building of professionals within Benin
  • Promote ethics in digital financial services for responsible digital finance

In his future he’d like to open a consultancy office and assist organizations and governments in their digital transformation plan.  He’d also like see financially excluded people participate the in economy using tailored financial services and wants to help design a consumer protection act that will be adopted in the country and in all the region.

Alfred leaves us by recommending learning with DFI and attending your local COP. The courses are very open minded and can help anyone to learn something new and he believes that once you get started you won’t be able to stop learning on our online campus!

We can’t wait to award Alfred with his CDFP certification this year. Thank you for sharing your journey with us and for being part of the association to drive digital finance and financial inclusion within your country and region.
