The Digital Frontiers Institute (DFI) is pleased to announce an open call for applications for a Non-Executive Director to the Board. DFI’s current board comprises five directors: the three founders in full time or part time roles, as well as a two independent non-executive directors. Due to a significant expansion in size, scope and reach, DFI is seeking a further independent non-executive director who will bring experience and insight to the governance structure of the organisation.
DFI prepares tomorrow’s fintech leaders for the challenges and opportunities they will encounter in a fast-changing and disruptive landscape. Through online executive education courses, targeted research into the fintech industry, and its growing league of industry professionals, DFI builds capabilities with the view to bridge capacity gaps that exist especially in developing markets.
To this end, DFI has developed an online learning platform and an approach to digital instruction on which more than 3000 professionals from over 80 countries so far have been trained.
Ideal candidates will have experience in the mobile development sector and B2B or corporate sales as well as access to a network of relevant contacts for extending DFI’s profile and marketing in areas of strategic growth South and East Asia. DFI is also committed to building and maintaining a diverse board which reflects its students, funders and the emerging professions of the future.
Country of residence is not a deciding factor but candidates must be able to attend board calls with current board members located on the US West Coast and in South Africa. Successful candidates will receive a remuneration of US $1000 per meeting attended.
The board usually meets quarterly by phone for up to 2 hours. At least one day long meeting per year would be held in person in Cape Town, South Africa. DFI would fund travel costs for attending this meeting.
The term of office will be two years, beginning in early 2019 and ending in December 2020.
The DFI board will shortlist potential candidates to approach before 30 November 2018 and, having established interest, will then set up a phone interview with members of the board. The board will then nominate a suitable candidate in December 2018.
